Stewards of legacy.
A boutique law firm in Brentwood’s Maryland Farms, working for the families and closely held businesses of Middle Tennessee. Estate planning, probate and trust administration, business law, and the quieter work of planning for clients whose names appear in places they did not put them.
A boutique firm.
Three partners and a small team. We do estate planning, probate and trust administration, and business law — and we have done so, in one form or another, for more than fifty years between us.
The firm has stayed deliberately small. The work of estate planning rewards continuity: the trust we draft for a couple in their fifties is often the trust we administer for their grandchildren in their thirties. Keeping the practice tight is how we make that work possible.
Our partners are Estate Planning Law Specialists. Russ Cook was the first attorney recognized in that capacity by the Tennessee Board of Certification and Specialization. Josh Tillman trained as a tax lawyer with the Tennessee Department of Revenue before joining the firm. Alex Fasching heads our probate department.
More about the firm →Four areas of practice, intersecting often.
Estate planning is the heart of the firm. The other three areas grew out of it: probate is what comes after, business law is what runs alongside, and discretion is how we work when a client’s name is part of what they want to protect.
Estate Planning
Wills, revocable trusts, dynasty trusts, supplemental needs trusts, charitable trusts, and powers of attorney for individuals and families.

Administration of estates and trusts after a death, including probate filings, accountings, distributions, and the resolution of contested matters.

Entity formation, ongoing general counsel, business succession planning, and the corporate work that intersects with the firm’s estate practice.

A quiet practice within the firm: planning structures and engagement protocols designed for clients whose privacy is itself part of what the plan must protect.

People hire lawyers, not firms. These are ours.
Some of our clients’ names you would recognize.
A meaningful share of our work is for clients whose names appear in places they did not put them: entertainers, executives, founders, athletes, families with names attached to buildings or industries.
For those clients the planning work is the same. The engagement is not. We commonly recommend planning structures designed to keep names off public records where the law permits, and we operate with the assumption that confidentiality is part of the deliverable.
Nothing on this page describes any client. That is the point.
